Job Opportunity: IR Tech (Interventional Radiology Technologist)
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Facility: Missouri Baptist Medical Center (BJC HealthCare)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Work in a hybrid room located in CT OR, supporting advanced vascular hybrid cases with CT surgeons.
- Responsibilities include scrubbing, wiring during cases, running the table, and layering 3D images.
- Experience in hybrid OR required; Cath lab/IR experience helpful but not the primary work area.
- Special equipment experience needed: EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair) and TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement).
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (06:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Yes, multiple options available (discuss during interview)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5 on days, 1:2 on weekends
- Average Daily Census: 6 patients
- Floating: Yes, within service line and scope (no floating to sister facilities)
- Locals: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
- Pending State License: Accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days per 13-week contract
- Block schedule: Not accommodated
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience (first-timers not accepted)
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency)
- AART or CCI certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred
- Special Requirements:
- Endovascular Interventions
- Siemens equipment experience
- Sterile Technique
- Hybrid OR experience
- TEVAR and EVAR procedures

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required (for Missouri licenses)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel
- Background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Professional references required (two, preferably supervisors within last year)
- Education verification required (cannot pend at start)
- Various health documents required including:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator)
- Immunizations and titers (Tdap, TB screening, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella)
- Flu vaccination or exemption (2024-2025 season)
- Facility-specific documents such as HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene policy, dress code policy, and latex allergy questionnaire must be completed prior to start
- Fingerprinting required for certain assignments (especially in Illinois long-term care or rehab units)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies including fingernail and dress code policies to avoid being sent home.
- Candidates must have an Aya Healthcare badge and facility photo badge prior to starting.
- Floating within the service line is expected to meet facility needs.
- Candidates must be prepared for on-call duties and weekend shifts as scheduled.
This position is ideal for experienced IR Techs with hybrid OR expertise looking for a travel contract in a well-established acute care hospital system.
