Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation Therapy
Location: San Luis Obispo, California
Facility: Movement for Life
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Job Summary
The Physical Therapist implements patient rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, function, and strength in an outpatient/rehabilitation clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients through physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
- Guide and monitor patient care throughout treatment and follow-up.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides in all aspects of patient care.
- Communicate with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow-up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
- Collaborate with front office staff on scheduling and patient follow-up.
- Make independent decisions regarding patient care.
- Participate in business marketing and referral processes as needed.
- Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures to protect patient privacy.
- Be familiar with PT billing policies and proficient in DX and ICD-10 coding.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise PT Assistants and Aides regarding patient care.
Work Environment
- Outpatient physical therapy clinic focused on rehabilitation.
- Must comply with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, lift, and move continually during work hours.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist patients with mobility, transfers, and walking safety.
- Constant alertness to patient safety is required.
Education & Licensure
- Degree in Physical Therapy required.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an active Physical Therapist license in California.
- Continuing education courses preferred.
Additional Information
- No travel required.
- Must maintain and update PT skills and certifications as necessary.
- Expected to actively participate in privacy training and communicate privacy policies to coworkers and patients.
