Interventional Radiology Technologist (Travel)
Location: Longview, Texas
Facility: CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center Longview
Hospital System: CHRISTUS Health (Parent)
Employment Type: Travel (Temp to Perm possible)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
Work Type: Full Time
Job Summary
The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists in performing complex specialized tasks during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures. This includes operating fluoroscopy, CT, laser, and ultrasonography equipment. The role supports patient flow in the Interventional labs and involves circulating and scrubbing during procedures, patient teaching, assisting with patient care, inventory management, and schedule coordination. The technologist troubleshoots equipment, participates in quality assurance, and manages image processing and archiving systems. Ongoing education, safety, and technical skill development within licensure scope are expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform circulating and scrubbing roles during IR procedures
- Assist with patient care and patient teaching within scope of practice
- Manage inventory and coordinate schedules for procedures
- Troubleshoot equipment and report malfunctions; follow up as needed
- Ensure proper scanning and storage of completed exams in PACS
- Follow PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser and escalate issues appropriately
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Adapt patient care methods to meet unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs
- Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Promote staff growth, development, and employee engagement
- Support physician satisfaction by assisting radiologists and referring physicians
- Demonstrate flexibility to work other shifts or campuses as required
- Participate in ongoing education and maintain imaging competencies
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year training/experience in special procedures preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Required Certifications and Licenses:
- Radiography (R) by ARRT (required)
- Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) by ARRT (required within 2 years)
- State Licensure (Texas MRT by TMB required)
- BLS certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
