Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position
Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Facility: Holston Valley Medical Center
Hospital System: Cardiovascular Medicine
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Schedule: 4x10 hour day shifts; some late shifts may exceed 10 hours
- Call: 2-3 weekends plus 2 weekdays on call in a 6-week rotation
- Must be able to scrub EP devices (Pacemakers, ICDs, Micras, etc.)
- Must be able to scrub and monitor diagnostic and complex interventional cases; some EP experience preferred; structural experience a plus
- Experience with Siemens Sensis/Epic and Philips Systems required
- Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
- Orientation: General orientation begins on Mondays with online computer-based learning (CBLs)
- Orientation includes 16 hours of nonbillable time
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts may be flexed based on hospital census without penalty
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted (verify if required)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for ER; can be pending at start but highly preferred
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – Highly preferred for ER candidates, not required
- National Certification/Verification as applicable (e.g., Certified Surgical Techs)
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement – Required annually
- State License Primary Source Verification
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- NIH Stroke Certification – Check if required or preferred
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- General Competency Exam
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (must meet specific standards; completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- Staff Info Form (time sensitive; must include Epic experience details if applicable)
- Department-specific uniform guidelines and dress code must be reviewed
- Contaminated Sharps and Body Fluid Exposure Statement (with Hep C titer if applicable)
- Smoking and Tobacco Use policy review
- Influenza policy review and flu vaccination or exemption documentation required
- Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire (time sensitive; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- Respiratory Medical Clearance Form
- CDC Facial Hair Guidelines for Respirator Use
Health Documents
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start (not annually)
- Fit Mask: Completed onsite; previous fit tests from non-Ballad facilities not accepted
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (2 PPDs within last 12 months or QGold/TSPOT within 3 months)
- MMR Titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Drug Testing: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-April 1)
Background and Compliance
- Background Check: Within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks required within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check required within 30 days of start
- References: Minimum 2, preferred 3
- Skills Checklist: Required
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in TN or working at TN facility
