CVICU Nurse Opportunity
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Facility: Yavapai Regional Medical Center
Unit Information
- Unit: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
- Number of Beds: 12
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1 based on patient acuity
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per pay period (may include Friday or Saturday nights; not necessarily every other weekend)
- Holiday Requirement: Yes
- Call/Standby Requirement: Yes, maximum 3 per 12 weeks
- Floating: Required as needed to MS/Tele/PCU/ICU across both campuses
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years CVICU experience
- Experience with IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), and fresh open heart surgery (OHS) from the OR
- Ability to titrate drips (Dexmedetomidine, Propofol, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Levophed, Insulin, Cardene)
- Impella experience desired
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to contract start

- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
Support Staff & Resources
- Charge Nurse and House Supervisor roles present
- Nurse Aides sometimes available (typically 1 NA per CVICU)
- Hospitalist coverage in-house
- Respiratory Therapists available department-wide 24/7 (not unit-specific)
- Respiratory equipment includes ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, HiFlow
- RNs read telemetry strips (no dedicated monitor techs)
Orientation & Dress Code
- Unit-specific orientation provided
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
Additional Notes
- Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
- First to float and night shifts expected
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia competency required
