Description
Physical Therapist (PT) - Temp Position
Location: Childress, Texas
Facility: Childress Healthcare Center
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
The Physical Therapist will:
- Accurately assess and diagnose patients' movement and functional deficits.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with patient-centered goals to reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
- Work to prevent loss of mobility.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform patient evaluations including history, systems review, and specific tests/measures.
- Establish individualized plans of care and select treatment techniques per physician orders.
- Conduct ongoing reassessment of patient progress and response to treatment.
- Initiate and manage discharge planning from the first visit through treatment completion.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff and students in accordance with state laws and policies.
- Complete clear, accurate documentation within required timeframes, meeting accreditation and insurance standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members using AIDET principles.
- Assess and provide education to meet the needs of patients and their support systems.
- Participate in professional development through educational programs, workshops, and current literature.
- Engage in quality improvement activities.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, complying with safety standards.
- Practice within the scope defined by the Texas state practice act.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Physical Therapy experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) setting.
- Valid Texas PT license or compact license.
- No references required at time of submission.
Licensing
- Texas state license required.
- Compact license accepted.
