Job Overview

This travel RN position in Labor & Delivery requires a nurse with strong assessment skills and clinical competence across all patient age groups, from pediatric to geriatric. The role involves providing direct patient care, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assessment: Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments appropriate to all stages of growth and development.
• Clinical Skills: Deliver competent nursing care, demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures, and support the patient care team.
• Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate patient records, including nursing process documentation and patient education.
• Professionalism: Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, demonstrate professional responsibility, and seek clinical and professional growth opportunities.
• Patient Satisfaction: Interact professionally and courteously with patients, families, and coworkers, maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Safety: Follow National Patient Safety Goals, use universal protocols, verify patient identity with two identifiers, and apply safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
• Unit-Specific Knowledge: Understand conditions, procedures, and equipment related to surgical patients, individualize care based on anesthesia and procedure, and assess patient understanding.
• Responsibility & Accountability: Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and condition changes, contributing effectively to the perioperative team.
• Patient Education: Provide pre-operative and postoperative education, assess patient and family understanding of surgical procedures and instructions.
• Pre-Admission Testing (PAT): Support timely completion of patient testing, evaluate PAT orders for appropriateness based on surgery, age, and health status.

Requirements

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • RN License (required)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required

Physical Requirements

Must meet occupational safety standards related to physical demands of nursing care.
