Job Opportunity: RN Surgery (Long-Term Assignment)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Facility: Resurrection Medical Center (Prime Healthcare Foundation, Inc.)


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Surgery (OR)
  • Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
  • **Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Work Schedule:
    • Five 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
    • Typical hours: 06:45 AM to 3:15 PM (may extend depending on case load)
    • On-call requirement:
      • One night every 2 weeks
      • One weekend every 6 weeks

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy Operating Room (OR) department
  • EPIC electronic health record experience is mandatory

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • Licenses:
    • Valid Driver's License or State ID
    • Active nursing license verified via Nursys
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
    • ACLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
    • PALS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
    • DCI/BVP certification (per CDC guidelines)
  • Health & Safety:
    • Prime Drug Screening (minimum 10-panel test including THC) within 60 days of start
    • COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses plus booster or documented declination)
    • MMR vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity (declinations not accepted at some locations)
    • Influenza vaccine or declination (required October 1 - May 31)
    • TB test and annual TB questionnaire
    • Varicella vaccination or immunity
    • Tdap vaccination (declinations not accepted at some locations)
    • Annual respirator fit test
    • Physical/Health Statement confirming fitness to work (annual)
  • Background & Compliance:
    • National criminal background check within one year of start date
    • Prime SAM/EPLS verification
    • Prime Agency Attestation and Job Description signed
    • Prime Form I-9 (Employment eligibility verification)
    • Social Security Card
  • Testing & Exams:
    • Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score)
    • Prime Basic Rhythm Interpretation Screening (minimum 80% score)
    • Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80% score)
    • Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80% score)
  • Other Requirements:
    • Prime Color-blind test (annual)
    • Prime Resume and References (for submission)
    • Prime Badge Photo (clear headshot)
    • Prime Education Verification and Onboarding Education Attestation
    • Prime Criminal Background Check
    • Prime Skills Checklist (for submission)

Additional Information

  • Must upload notarized name affidavit if there are discrepancies between credentials
  • Workday hours may extend depending on case load
  • On-call shifts are mandatory as scheduled
  • Education and all credentialing must be completed prior to clearance to start

This position is ideal for experienced OR nurses with strong EPIC skills who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and meeting comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
