Job Summary

Provide timely, accurate, and reliable speech-language pathology services including patient evaluations and treatment for hospital-based inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Ensure clinical documentation meets service delivery standards related to service quality, customer satisfaction, compliance, and environment of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and follow medical prescriptions for speech-language pathology.
• Assess patients’ strengths and limitations using accepted clinical methods to provide diagnoses and assist in achieving short- and long-term goals.
• Administer and adjust speech-language pathology treatments based on patient response.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
• Establish effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff; participate in patient care conferences.
• Provide patient and family education as needed.
• Participate in discharge planning, make referrals, and coordinate durable medical equipment needs.
• Supervise departmental support staff, clerical staff, students, Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates, and volunteers.
• Maintain required continuing education units (CEUs) for licensure and certifications.
• Engage in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
• May take on additional responsibilities as requested.

Preferred Experience

• Previous clinical experience.
• Experience with dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders.
