Speech Language Pathologist
Location: Johnson City, New York
Facility: United Health Services Hospitals Inc. (NYUHS) - 33-57 Harrison Street

Job Summary
Provide timely, accurate, and reliable speech-language pathology services including patient evaluations and treatment for hospital-based inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Ensure clinical documentation meets service delivery standards related to service quality, customer satisfaction, compliance, and environment of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and follow medical prescriptions for speech-language pathology.
- Assess patients’ strengths and limitations using accepted clinical methods to provide diagnoses and assist in achieving short- and long-term goals.
- Administer and adjust speech-language pathology treatments based on patient response.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
- Establish effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff; participate in patient care conferences.
- Provide patient and family education as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning, make referrals, and coordinate durable medical equipment needs.
- Supervise departmental support staff, clerical staff, students, Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates, and volunteers.
- Maintain required continuing education units (CEUs) for licensure and certifications.
- Engage in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
- May take on additional responsibilities as requested.
Preferred Experience
- Previous clinical experience.
- Experience with dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders.
