Travel Registered Nurse (L&D)
Location: Willmar, Minnesota
Facility: Rice Memorial Hospital, CentraCare Health System MSP
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position for Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
- 12-hour shifts with every 3rd weekend required
- Shift options:
- Week 1: 3x12 hour day or night shifts
- Week 2: 2x12 hour day or night shifts
- Or 3x12 hour day or night shifts per week
- Shift times: 06:45 AM - 07:15 PM & 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM
Requirements
Licenses & Certifications:
- Minnesota RN License
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- AWHONN Intermediate (can submit without, must obtain upon offer)
- Previous charge nurse experience
- EPIC experience
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
Preferred:
- AWHONN Advanced certification
Traveler’s primary residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) preferred but not required
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required annually for RNs)
- Other competency exams as applicable (annual updates required)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit testing for N95 masks (Halyard Fluid Shield or 3M 1860)
- Tdap vaccination (no religious declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per MN state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required (time sensitive)
- Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines (time sensitive)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
- COVID-19 vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted with required documentation
- Drug testing within 1 year (9 panel acceptable)
Background & Screening
- Criminal background check within 1 year of start (7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG excluded provider checks required
- Two references from recent employers within 2 years
- Skills checklist required
- Education verification required (diploma acceptable in lieu of third-party verification)
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required (no starts with fingerprints pending)
Facility Specific Information
- Dress code must be reviewed prior to start (RRTs wear dove gray scrubs)
- Photo for badge required (grey background, no selfies, JPG format)
- Confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start
- Education modules completed during orientation (approx. 16 hours)
- COVID-19 policies and exemption forms in place (approval can take up to 3 weeks)
- Badge must be returned on last day of assignment
Important Notes
- Candidates must complete the Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint Questionnaire immediately after signing the contract to proceed with fingerprinting and clearance.
- Candidates cannot start without fingerprint clearance or an approved exemption/“more time needed” letter.
- If fingerprinting is required, candidates must complete it within 2 weeks of registration.
- Candidates must be prepared to travel to a livescan location if not within driving distance.
This position is ideal for experienced L&D RNs who meet the certification and licensing requirements and are comfortable with travel assignments in Minnesota.
