Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVOR RN)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Facility: MUSC Health (Medical University of South Carolina)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 AM - 7 PM)
- On-Call: Yes, every 3rd-4th weekend and 1-2 weekday calls
- Floating: Yes, between service lines (not to sister facilities)
- Experience Required: Minimum 3 years CVOR experience (including CABG, Vascular, and Thoracic cases)
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted with experience
- License Required: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Radiation badge (must be provided by agency; MUSC does not provide)
- Block Schedule: May be accommodated with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- Local Radius Rule: 60 miles
- Local Travelers: Not accepted

- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- International background checks required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations (dated within 12 months)
- Employment Application: Complete application or resume required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Education Verification: Not required for this facility
- Radiation Badge: Required for OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, and Radiology travelers; must be obtained before starting patient care
- Work History Verification: Not required for this facility

- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Chemo Certification (not required for Florence campus)
- HIPAA: HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- IV Certification: Required for select LPNs if applicable
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exams: Required as applicable
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual updates required
- Vaccinations & Titers:
- Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days; T-spot not accepted)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 30 - April 18, 2024-25 season) with documentation uploaded prior to deadline; medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper forms
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Highly preferred but not required; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for all patient-facing travelers

- MUSC does not accept local travelers for this position.
- Radiation badges must be obtained by the agency before the traveler can start patient care.
- Travelers should be prepared for possible emergency response duties during hurricane season.
- All certifications and required documents must be uploaded and verified prior to orientation and start date.
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be combined to equal 1 shift.
