Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele (Nights)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Facility: Ohio State Brain and Spine Hospital
Hospital System: Outside In
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Telemetry nursing experience
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- IV certification required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required

- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Additional Certifications (if applicable):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for ER units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) for L&D, Post-Partum, OB
- NIH Stroke Certification for ER and Critical Care RNs
- Annual Requirements:
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training Certificate
- Ethics and Compliance Policies acknowledgment
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series; declination acceptable)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- TB Questionnaire required annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide, sex offender, MVR if driving required)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start (specific fingerprinting code required)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring required
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Education accreditation verification required (must be graduate of accredited nursing program)
Facility Specific Policies
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form required
- Proof of fingerprint completion required (varies for in-state and out-of-state candidates)
This position is ideal for experienced MS/Telemetry RNs who are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment and meet the outlined certification and compliance requirements.
