Description
Registered Nurse - Ortho RN
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Facility: Springfield Memorial Hospital, Hereford Regional Medical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: 38 bed unit
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-timers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Work every third weekend
- On-call: None
- Floating: May float to other Med Surg departments as needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- License: Must have active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
Certifications & Skills
- Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), Telemetry experience, Cerner charting experience
- IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Skills: PICC line management, starting IVs
- Travel Experience: Preferred

- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- Physical exam within 1 year, including labs
- Fit mask test (3M1860, 1870, or 1870+)

- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Background check covering last 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days prior to start
- Professional references (2) required for clinical candidates
- Education verification (degree/transcript/diploma)
- Illinois-specific checks including:
- Health Care Worker Registry (fingerprints required in Illinois)
- Department of Corrections Inmate Search
- Most Wanted Search
- State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry

This position is ideal for RNs with orthopedic and telemetry experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a Level I trauma, Magnet hospital setting using Cerner EMR. Candidates must be fully licensed in Illinois and meet all health and compliance requirements prior to start.
