Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Location: Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks, ongoing need)
Department: Interventional Radiology
Position Overview
- This is an imaging position, not an RN role.
- Requires an active Illinois X-ray license (IEMA) and ARRT board certification in radiology.
- Experience required in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab; candidates with Cath Lab experience can be trained in Interventional Radiology.
- Position involves performing diagnostic radiographic exams and interventional procedures per protocol.
- Candidates may assist with general X-ray when no Interventional Radiology procedures are scheduled.
Work Schedule & On-Call
- Shift length: 8 or 10 hours (start times vary between 7-9 AM depending on day and shift length).
- On-call required: Yes, currently about 2 days per week, potentially up to 10 days per month when fully staffed.
- No current weekend requirements, but Saturday or Sunday call may be added soon.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic exams and interventional procedures.
- Utilize PACS and EMR (EPIC) systems for documentation.
- Maintain IV and contrast competency.
- Follow protocols for patient positioning, exposure control, and radiation safety.
- Clean and inspect departmental equipment and imaging rooms.
- Communicate effectively with the patient care team.
- Perform office duties as needed.
Equipment & Technology
- New Siemens Interventional Radiology suite being installed.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Associate degree required.
- ARRT Certification in Radiology.
- Active Illinois X-ray license (IEMA).
- BLS certification.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of technical experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab.
