Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Elkins, West Virginia
Facility: Davis Memorial Hospital
Hospital System: Davis Health System - Qualivis
Employment Type: Travel/Contract (Locals not accepted; 75-mile radius rule)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Oncology RN
• Shift: 5x8 Days, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year oncology experience
• Travel Experience: Required
• Licensure: Candidates with pending certifications will be considered
• Required Certifications:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • CHEMO certification
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Vaccination & Health Requirements

• Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Nov 1, 2024 – April 2025)

  • Medical exemptions considered with signed doctor’s note and completed exemption form
  • Religious exemptions are NOT accepted
• Other Immunizations/Health Documents Required:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year of start)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccine series, or signed declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
  • Drug Testing: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (annual update)

Compliance & Documentation

• Background Check: 7-year criminal history check, updated annually
• Licensing:

  • WV RN license required (online verification accepted; no wallet card needed)
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Other Required Checks:

  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluation
• Fingerprinting: WV CARES fingerprinting required for certain units (LTC, Behavioral Health, Home Health, Hospice)
• Skills Checklist: Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency required
• Facility Specific:

  • Completion of CareLearning modules (~2 hours) prior to start
  • Passport-style photo for badge
  • Signed acknowledgments for patient rights, confidentiality, and Hepatitis B declination if applicable

Additional Notes

• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
• Flu vaccine exemptions require mask-wearing throughout flu season if approved
• Facility offers egg-free flu vaccines for those with allergies
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting pending if needed (provisional employment up to 60 days)

This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs who are comfortable with travel assignments and meet the licensure and certification requirements for West Virginia.
