Description
Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: South Bend, Indiana
Facility: Memorial Hospital of South Bend (Beacon Health System)
Unit: 10 South Medical Oncology (Oncology with heavy telemetry patients)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3x12 hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Job Description
- Unit primarily Oncology focused with many telemetry patients.
- Management of drips and cardiac rhythms expected.
- Strong telemetry experience preferred; if not, strong MedSurg skills required.
- Floating to other units is mandatory.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- Call: Able to be released twice per contract.
- Holiday requirement: 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (no locals).
- Scrub color: Royal Blue top with White or Royal Blue bottoms.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Traveler must pass medication and EKG tests.
Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Required Certifications (AHA only unless otherwise noted):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
- State License verification required.
- Pass/Fail Testing: On-site EKG exam covering cardiac conduction system, dysrhythmias, and wave labeling.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam required.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe.
- TB questionnaire prior to start and annually.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant accepted if needed for quick start).
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious declination required prior to start.
- Background check within 90 days of start covering last 7 years of residence and work history.
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
Additional Facility Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific modules (8-10 hours) prior to start.
- Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge.
- Completion of confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical exemption.
- Flu vaccine declination forms if applicable (medical or religious).
- Review and sign Agency Resource Guide.
This position is ideal for RNs with oncology and telemetry experience who are comfortable with night shifts, floating, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
