Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina

Job Summary
The Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath Technologist performs technical procedures involving ionizing radiation for radiological assessment, diagnosis, and therapy under the direction of a radiologist. Assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures such as angioplasty, stenting, and thrombolysis to capture images and treat organ-system diseases.
Work Schedule
- Monday - Thursday: 07:00 - 17:30
- 1 weekend per month on-call
- On-call requirements: 10 vascular call shifts; late coverage for cardiology
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic, special, cardiac cath, and radiographic procedures including vascular and nonvascular assessments.
- Prepare patients for exams; administer medications and contrast media per provider orders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of IV therapy techniques and maintain safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure.
- Ensure all documentation and procedural data are complete and accurate.
- Assist in quality control (QC) functions and quality management programs.
- Maintain, clean, and restock assigned rooms; report supply shortages.
- Work efficiently to avoid backlogs and delays in patient flow.
- Operate equipment safely and report malfunctions.
- Assist with instruction of new teammates and student technologists.
- May serve as In-Charge Technologist in absence of supervisor.
- Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, committees, and performance improvement activities.
- Provide professional, culturally sensitive care to patients of all ages (neonatal to geriatric).
- Apply standard precautions and routinely use PPE.
- Be flexible with shift changes based on workload or staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training from an accredited program.
- Registration by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or registry eligible.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications.
- Minimum of one year experience as a Registered Diagnostic Technologist.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system required.
- ARRT certification required.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership qualities.
- Proficient in MS Office and able to learn new software quickly.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Additional Requirements
- Travel experience required.
- Must be willing and able to take call shifts as required.
- No flu vaccine exemptions accepted (including medical or religious).
- All units may have COVID-19 patients.
- Valid NC Driver’s License not required unless driving a facility vehicle (must be 21+ and approved).
Certifications and Compliance
- ACLS, BLS, and other certifications as applicable must be current and valid (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start).
- Annual completion of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training required.
- Background check within 7 years required prior to start.
- Drug screening (10-panel) required within 90 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documents required including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- COVID-19 vaccination proof if vaccinated
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (no exemptions accepted)
Orientation and Facility Specifics
- Orientation includes virtual LMS modules and on-site training.
- Current headshot photo required for badge.
- Confidentiality and Code of Conduct forms must be reviewed and signed.
- Facility-specific competency exams and skills checklists required.
