Job Opportunity: Radiologic Technologist 2 - HVI Proc IR
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Facility: Carle Health - 611 W Park St
Hospital System: Carle Health
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: Approximately 3 months (89 days)
Job Description
- Administer contrast material as requested by physicians via existing vascular access points.
- Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
- Perform all essential functions of a Radiologic Technologist under direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.
- Assist with inventory and supplies management.
- Verify correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
- Compile pertinent clinical information (lab, pathology, etc.).
- Assist in training new staff as needed.
- Document procedures accurately and completely according to policies.
- Explain procedures to patients and provide care including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
- Perform on-call duties and/or variable shifts as assigned.
- Maintain sterile field during procedures.
- Administer and withhold contrast and treatment as appropriate.
- Assess patients for allergies.
- Pull supplies for procedures.
- Cardiac Cath Lab experience including left and right heart catheterizations, pericardiocentesis, and vascular access under sterile conditions.
- Experience with Structural Heart Procedures such as TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, and CardioMEMs.
- Hybrid Peripheral Vascular procedures in coordination with vascular surgery including EVAR, TCAR, and TEVAR.
- Use adjunctive tools including ICUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO.
Required Skills & Experience
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures.
- Effective communication skills, ability to follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately.
- Compassionate and caring approach when dealing with patients and colleagues.
- Manual dexterity to handle small supplies.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous Radiologic Technology experience in a procedural setting.
- Experience with Interventional Neurology is preferred.
- Ability to maintain a sterile field during procedures.
- Ability to pull supplies for procedures.
This position involves working in a dynamic interventional radiology environment requiring technical skill, patient care, and teamwork.
