Registered Nurse - Cardiac/Pulmonary Medical/Surgical
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Facility: Carle Health - 611 W Park St

Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities and duties specific to the unit and scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to cardiac and pulmonary medical/surgical nursing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support the healthcare team.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures as needed.
- Manage care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
- Collaborate with patients and families to identify goals of care and maintain care plans.
- Administer medications and evaluate their effects.
- Prepare patients for procedures, manage pain, perform IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitor labs.
- Discharge patients with instructions for safe transition from hospital to home.
- Document all care using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Participate in team huddles and ensure effective communication among team members.
- Delegate tasks with appropriate follow-up and ensure basic patient care (turning, toileting, etc.) meets standards.
- Manage conflict and communicate professionally with all team members.
- Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
- Identify personal learning needs and take initiative to address them.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum of one (1) year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Records system
