Location: Round Rock, Texas

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Call Requirements: None
Weekends: At least 2 weekends in a 4-week period

Unit Overview

• Unit: Surgical/Trauma (Unit 61178)
• Location: Main Building, 2nd Floor
• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 4-6 patients per nurse
• Typical Patient Population: Surgical patients including orthopedics, neurosurgery, colorectal, general surgery, non-maternal gynecology, urology, and trauma cases
• Pace: Fast-paced unit with high admission and discharge volume (up to 21 discharges in a single day)
• Unique Features:

  • Emphasis on surgical patients, clinical pathways, and enhanced throughput
  • Preferred unit for many surgeons and trauma doctors
  • Mascot: "Stu," a big purple dinosaur symbolizing the “broken bones” unit

Staffing

• Day Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 6-8 RNs and LVNs, 3-4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 1 Unit Clerk (UC)
• Night Shift: 1 CNC, 6-8 RNs and LVNs, 3-4 PCTs

Required Skills & Certifications

• Must Have:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Preferred:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification

Licensure
