Travel RN - Med/Surg (Surgical/Trauma Unit)
Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Call Requirements: None
Weekends: At least 2 weekends in a 4-week period
Unit Overview
- Unit: Surgical/Trauma (Unit 61178)
- Location: Main Building, 2nd Floor
- Number of Beds: 36
- Patient Ratios: 4-6 patients per nurse
- Typical Patient Population: Surgical patients including orthopedics, neurosurgery, colorectal, general surgery, non-maternal gynecology, urology, and trauma cases
- Pace: Fast-paced unit with high admission and discharge volume (up to 21 discharges in a single day)
- Unique Features:
- Emphasis on surgical patients, clinical pathways, and enhanced throughput
- Preferred unit for many surgeons and trauma doctors
- Mascot: "Stu," a big purple dinosaur symbolizing the “broken bones” unit
Staffing
- Day Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 6-8 RNs and LVNs, 3-4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 1 Unit Clerk (UC)
- Night Shift: 1 CNC, 6-8 RNs and LVNs, 3-4 PCTs
Required Skills & Certifications
- Must Have:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
