Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Facility: Ohio State University Hospital

Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Unit: East Tower 9 (27 beds) – Ortho Surgery, MSK Infections, Ortho Trauma
- Shift: T9 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
- Schedule: Weekdays and some weekends
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4-5
- Call: No call required
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Skills: IV start, Telemetry, Intermediate care
- EPIC experience required
- Previous travel experience preferred
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ER and specific units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for L&D, Post-Partum, OB
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Facility-specific expiration rules
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required for ER and Critical Care RNs
- State RN License verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification for RNs
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and annually thereafter)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Hepatitis B – Titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- TB Questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide, sex offender, MVR if applicable)
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start (code 3701.881)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring for Aya candidates
- 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Education accreditation confirmation required for nursing degrees (accredited by CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
Facility Specific Policies
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed
- Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
- Background acknowledgment form required for subcontractors
- Proof of fingerprint completion required (physical receipt or confirmation)
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and annually
