Position Overview

• Role: ER Nurse Educator
• Employment Type: Travel
• Shift: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts, varied hours
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 40
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Nevada RN license (required prior to start)
• AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
• TNCC, ENPC, or TCAR preferred

Experience & Education

• Minimum 5+ years RN experience
• At least 3 years in an Emergency Department
• Minimum 2 years of education/teaching experience
• BSN required; MSN preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement orientation plans for new ER nurses
• Conduct weekly progress meetings and end-of-orientation evaluations
• Collect competencies and evaluate e-learning compliance
• Reconcile outstanding paperwork related to orientation
• Collaborate with staff educators on unit-based projects
• Assist with professional development classes and leadership initiatives
• Apply adult education principles for staff and patient/family education
• Perform outcome evaluations related to clinical practice and education
• Provide consultation to healthcare providers and nursing management
• Role model, coach, and monitor nursing staff development
• May fill in as charge nurse or floor nurse as needed

• Strong leadership and consultation skills
• Advanced clinical practice skills including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Ability to apply evidence-based nursing practice and critical thinking
• Knowledge of legal and regulatory standards to maintain quality care
• Competence with special populations and age-appropriate care
• Commitment to professional nursing ethics

Facility & Environment

• Level II Trauma Center serving a 500-mile radius
• 800 inpatient beds, 80 ER beds
• Extremely busy, fast-paced environment with volume comparable to a Level I trauma center
• Supports two ERs including a designated Level II trauma center and an accredited Children’s Hospital Emergency Room
• Facility recognized for advanced care including stroke accreditation, heart failure center of excellence, robotic surgery, and neuroscience services
