Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Salem Hospital, Salem Health - MSP, Salem, Oregon
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Variable shift start times: 06:30, 07:00, or 08:00
- Full-time: 70 hours per pay period
- Schedule alternates weekly between 3 and 4 shifts of 10 hours each
- Call required 1 night per week, possibly more
- Call includes one night per week and at least one weekend every six weeks (Friday evening through Monday morning 06:30)
- Weekends include day and night shifts
Experience & Credentials
- Minimum 1 year RN experience required
- Acute care experience preferred
- Current Oregon RN license required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification by American Heart Association required
Certifications (may be required depending on unit)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for CVOR, CVICU, Cath Lab, ICU, PCU, PACU; Med Surg 6N-General Surgery requires ACLS
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, ED, Pediatrics; preferred for PACU
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, NICU, Postpartum; preferred for Pediatrics
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy): Preferred for Cath Lab
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred for ER
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ER; preferred for Cath Lab & ICU
- BLS: Required for Monitor Techs and X-Ray Techs; AHA only, RQI acceptable
Competency Exams
- Competency Exam: 80% passing score required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: 85% passing score required for Cath Lab, IMCU/IMC, CVICU, ICU, Oncology, ER; preferred for PACU, Med Surg/Tele
Facility-Specific Information
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs top required; can wear all royal blue or black pants with royal blue top
- Badge Photo: White background, submitted at least 8 days prior to start
- Healthstream Modules: Must be completed by due date; required modules vary by unit
- TB History Screening Form: Required prior to start
- Job Description: Must be signed prior to start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required (can start with physical pending)
- Fit Mask Testing: Must be completed onsite within first week of start (not required for some positions)
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- Tdap vaccine or declination form required
- Flu vaccine or signed declination required year-round
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Antibody titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters or declination if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Titer, 3-dose series, or declination; booster or declination if low titer
- Varicella: Antibody titer or 2 vaccines; boosters or declination if negative/equivocal
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required (2 negative PPDs or QuantiFERON Gold/Tspot)
Background & Verification
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- References: 2 references within last 2 years, including 1 supervisory reference within last 12 months
- Education Verification: Required for non-licensed providers (PCA, PCT); transcript or diploma accepted in lieu
- Work History Verification: Required for non-clinical admin positions
Additional Notes
- Call requirements include night and weekend coverage
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
- Some certifications and competencies may be accepted as certificates of completion temporarily
- Badge photo and Healthstream modules are time-sensitive and must be completed before start
This position offers a dynamic schedule with call responsibilities and requires a current Oregon RN license and BLS certification. Additional certifications may be required depending on the unit assignment. Compliance with health, background, and competency requirements is mandatory prior to starting.
