Description

Registered Nurse - Ortho RN

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Facility: Springfield Memorial Hospital (Hereford Regional Medical Center)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Unit: 38 bed unit
  • Shift: Nights (1845-0715), 4x12 or 3x12 shifts
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years (first-timers accepted)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every third weekend
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • On-call: None
  • Floating: May float to other Med Surg departments as needed
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • License: Must have active Illinois RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
  • Special Requirements:
    • Telemetry experience preferred
    • Required IV therapy/phlebotomy skills: PICC line management, starting IVs
    • Cerner experience preferred
    • Previous travel experience preferred

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS (if applicable), PALS (if applicable), HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License Verification and NURSYS Verification
  • Competency Exam (clinical/allied candidates)
  • Badge Photo (color, plain background)
  • Signed Code of Conduct
  • Flu Vaccine or approved Medical/Religious Exemption (required Oct 1 – Apr 1)
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must indicate good health and ability to perform job functions)
  • Fit Mask Test (3M masks or PAPR if required)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 9-panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start
  • Background Check within 30 days of start (covering last 7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start
  • Professional References (2 required for clinical candidates)
  • Skills Checklist (clinical/allied candidates)
  • Fingerprinting and Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (for clinical candidates without IL license)
  • Education Verification (degree verification required)
  • State-specific criminal and offender registry checks as required by Illinois

Notes

  • Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation.
  • On-call shifts count as called-off shifts if used in lieu of cancellation.
  • Facility can accommodate latex allergies.
  • Some documentation and requirements are not applicable for non-clinical or remote candidates.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with orthopedic and telemetry skills, comfortable working night shifts in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital using Cerner for charting.
