Travel RN Opportunity – NICU at Medical City Dallas, Texas

Facility: Medical City Dallas (HCA Healthcare)
Location: Dallas, Texas
Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 108
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:4
  • Staffing: RNs, LVNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Externs
  • Equipment Used:
    • Nasal Cannula
    • Bubble CPAP
    • Ventilators
    • Oscillators
    • IV Pumps
    • Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS)
    • Warmers
    • Isolettes
  • Documentation Systems: CPN, Meditech
  • Scheduling: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays
  • Floating Policy: Contract staff float before permanent staff to PICU, Pediatrics, CICU; care for patients under 2 years old
  • Patient Experience Requirement: Minimum 1 year Level III NICU experience

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience with surgical and cardiac neonatal patients
  • Care of infants less than 27 weeks gestation
  • Experience caring for tracheostomy infants
  • Experience with Broviac central lines
  • Experience with preemies at least 28 weeks gestation and above
  • Management of central lines
  • Respiratory management including care of intubated patients

Advanced Skills and Procedures on Unit

  • Central line insertions
  • Circumcisions
  • Exploratory laparotomies
  • Gastroschisis reductions
  • Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) ligations

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Dress Code

  • Royal blue scrubs required

  • Unit staffed with experienced personnel and uses advanced neonatal equipment and technology
  • Rotating schedule includes weekends and holidays, offering varied shift options
  • Floating opportunities to related pediatric and intensive care units for broader experience
