Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I (Travel)

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions appropriately.
  • Coordinate all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) following Standard Precautions.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified.
  • Nursys Verification - Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require FACIS Questionnaire.
  • License/Certificate Verification - Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Ascension Pharmacology Exam - Completed prior to start; updated every 3 years; minimum 80% score.
  • Ascension Specialty Exam - Completed prior to first assignment; updated every 3 years; minimum 80% or national benchmark passing score.
  • Ascension Color Vision Test - Completed prior to start; updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies - Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score.
  • NIH Certification - Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • Ascension EKG Exam - Completed prior to start; minimum 80% score.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation - Completed pre-hire.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding - Completed onsite prior to start.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip - Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out - Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • Ascension Badge Photo - Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • MMR Vaccination - Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test - Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
  • Hepatitis B - Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine - Flu season October 1 through March 31; exemptions accepted but mask required at all times.
  • TB Screening - Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within a year showing no infection, and TB questionnaire completed; updated annually.
  • Health Statement - Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA - Within 1 year and 30 days of start; TB questionnaire updated annually.
  • Varicella - Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap - Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen - Completed within 30 days prior to start; includes testing for 12 specified drugs; includes MRO review.

Professional and Background Requirements

  • Ascension Profile (Resume) - Required for submission.
  • Professional References - At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check - Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; completed within 30 days of first assignment; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) Check - Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist - Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • Education Verification - Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • Confirmation of Assignment - Provided upon initial assignment and updated with each extension.
  • Employment Verification - Third-party verification for past seven years; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.

Optional / Additional Information

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist - Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader within a week.
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation - Post-assignment evaluation (optional).
  • Name Change Documentation - Legal documentation if applicable (optional).
  • Influenza Vaccine Exemption/Declination - Accepted with mask requirement during flu season.

This position requires thorough credentialing, compliance with health and safety protocols, and completion of Ascension-specific exams and onboarding processes. Candidates must be prepared to meet all licensing, certification, and health requirements prior to assignment start.
