Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Cardiac medical and surgical unit
- Care for 2 ICU patients safely
- Manage cardiac devices
Required Credentials & Documentation
Professional Credentials (Required for Submission)
- Current nursing license with primary source verification (within 30 days prior to start)
- Nursys verification (within 30 days prior to start)
- Ascension Resume/Profile
- Two professional references (qualifying, completed prior to first assignment)
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
Professional Credentials (Required for Onboarding)
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot, white or blue background, no filters)
- Ascension Criminal Background Check (7-year search including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG, National Sex Offender, updated annually)
- Ascension EPLS (within 90 days of start)
- Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days of start; official transcripts if verification fails)
- Ascension Employment Verification (past 7 years, updated annually)
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (agency letterhead, start/end dates)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within 1 year, updated annually)
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% or national benchmark, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated as of Dec 2023, two attempts max)
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (completion of pre-hire 6-hour training)
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
Certifications (Required for Onboarding)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)
Personal Health History Requirements (Required for Onboarding)
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), mask required
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Recent testing and annual TB questionnaire
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be done onsite (specific mask types required)
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Ascension Color Vision: Completed prior to start, updated every 3 years
Additional Notes
- No declinations accepted for MMR, Varicella, and Tdap vaccines.
- Flu vaccine exemptions accepted with mask requirement during flu season.
- Background checks and verifications must be current and updated annually or after breaks in service longer than 90 days.
- All exams require a minimum passing score of 80% with only two attempts allowed.
- Onboarding includes both online and onsite components.
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs comfortable managing complex cardiac patients and devices in a fast-paced ICU environment within a reputable hospital system.
