Pediatric ICU RN Travel Job - Alexandria, Louisiana

Unit Information
- Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Location: 3rd Floor, Women’s & Children’s Hospital
- Number of Beds: 6
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
- Shifts:
- Day: 1 charge nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies with census)
- Night: 1 charge nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies with census)
- Equipment Used:
- Alaris IV pump
- Bair Hugger
- Kangaroo Feeding Pump
- Giraffe infant warmer
- Ventilators
- BiPAP
- High Flow O2
- EMR System: Meditech
- Medication System: Pyxis
Required Skills & Experience
- Must Have:
- Minimum 1 year pediatric ICU nursing experience
- Preferred:
- PICU or NICU experience
- Experience in women’s health areas (labor and delivery, OB/GYN)
Typical Procedures
- Spinal taps
- Titration of critical drips (sedation, vasoactive, paralytic)
- Sedated MRI
- EKG/EEG/Telemetry monitoring
- Port access and discontinuation
- Intubation and extubation
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Floating Assignments
- May float to NICU (low acuity patients) or Nursery
- May float to OB/GYN if qualified
Work Schedule & Dress Code
- Rotating weekends required
- May work a mixed schedule of days, nights, and weekends to cover scheduling needs
