    Description

    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Facility: Providence Swedish First Hill Campus
    Hospital System: Providence Health and Services - MSP
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    • Eligible for travel contract if previously employed at any Providence facility (except Swedish) and separated for at least 3 months.
    • Active compact license honored at all Swedish facilities.
    • First-time travelers are welcome.
    • Minimum 2 years nursing experience required. Candidates with less than 2 years or no experience with C-Sections require manager approval. Intermediate AWHONN certification required for screening.
    • Float to Postpartum unit required.

    Patient Population & Care Focus

    • High Risk Antepartum care (6 to 41 weeks gestation) including:
      • Preterm labor (PTL), placenta previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, premature rupture of membranes (PROM), twins, substance use disorder in pregnancy.
      • Care for fetal demise or loss (antepartum and postpartum).
      • Postpartum mothers with babies in NICU (no newborn care on this unit).

    Unit Details & Skills

    • Support amniocentesis or sterile speculum exams at bedside.
    • Experience with PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, syringe pumps.
    • Medication administration including heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate.
    • Labor and delivery management: circulating for C-sections.

    Scrub Requirements

    • Any color scrubs allowed; scrubs provided when floated to Labor & Delivery units.

    Required Certifications

    • AWHONN Advanced (Intermediate level required for screening)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not mandatory

    Work Setting

    • High Risk Antepartum Unit with float to Postpartum and Labor & Delivery as needed.

    Compliance & Documentation Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
    • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually.
    • Immunizations and health screenings including:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
      • COVID-19 vaccination or declination (required if onsite)
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests, THC excluded)
    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations in past 7 years, updated annually
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years
    • Minimum 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
    • Education verification (nursing degree verification required)
    • Various state-specific and facility-specific attestations and forms as applicable

    Additional Notes

    • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be floated to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
    • Providence WorkRamp training modules required prior to start, including core, specialty, and regional modules depending on facility and specialty.
    • Epic training modules required for certain regions and specialties.
    • Candidates must comply with Providence Health and Services - MSP regulatory and compliance requirements.

    This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a background in high-risk antepartum care and labor & delivery, who are flexible to float within related units and meet Providence’s certification and compliance standards.
