Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Contract Length: 20 weeks
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit: Cardiac Telemetry Unit
  • Bed Count: 16 beds, average daily census of 16
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekend Shifts: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • Floating: Yes, to other Cardiac Telemetry or other units as needed
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include:
    • New Year’s Eve and Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
    • Christmas Eve and Day

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st timers accepted)
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Preferred/Additional Certifications:
    • PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification (depending on specialty and unit)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (strictly enforced, max 3 attempts)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
    • General Competency Exam (required by agency)

Clinical Skills & Work Setting

  • Experience with:
    • Post Myocardial Infarction (MI)
    • Heart Failure
    • Arrhythmias
    • Chest Pain
    • Peripheral Vascular Disease
    • Peritoneal Dialysis
    • Telemetry, EKG, Doppler

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance results in 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Floating & Scheduling

  • Floating to other Cardiac Telemetry or other units as needed
  • 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • No call requirements

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required by agency within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or Declination (required)
    • COVID-19 Vaccine or Declination (required)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions
  • Background Check: Required within 30 days of start, must be complete prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Required for most recent employer; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Facility Policies

  • Must review and sign Piedmont Code of Conduct and Acknowledgement prior to start
  • Must review Piedmont Dress and Professional Appearance Policy
