Travel RN - Level II NICU (LDRP Unit)
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU
Job Overview
- Work in a Level II NICU on a busy Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit
- Rotating shifts with self-scheduling (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3x12-hour shifts)
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Call requirements: Yes
- No float requirements
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Must have at least 2 years of experience
Unit & Patient Information
- Unit: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
- Number of beds: 24
- Patient ratios: 1:6 (census ranges from 3 to 24 patients)
- Patient population: Neonates and adults
- Equipment used: External Fetal Monitoring (EFM), IV pumps
- Electronic Health Records (EHR): Cerner, Powerchart, Omnicell Med System
Required Certifications
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – REQUIRED
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – REQUIRED
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – REQUIRED
- AWHONN Intermediate – Preferred
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D), LDRP, and Postpartum (PP) care
- Ability to manage a 3-couplet assignment
- Triage of obstetrical patients
- Use of External Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Start and maintain peripheral IVs
- Administer antihypertensives and insulin drips
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and recover C-sections
- Perform APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
- Baby nurse duties including “baby catcher,” collecting cord samples, ID/security banding, radiant warmers, and thermoregulation
- Epidural anesthesia pain assessment and management
- Postpartum care and procedures, including mother/baby postpartum care
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Level 1 Nursery
- Mother/Baby care
- Circulating for C-sections

- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
