Physical Therapist (Rehabilitation Therapy) - Contract Position
Location: Davenport, Washington
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Qualifications
- Education: Master's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program
- Experience: Experience working directly with patients in a long-term care or hospital setting
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Physical Therapist state license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Position Summary
A Physical Therapist plans and executes rehabilitation programs to help patients regain physical function after accidents, surgery, or manage pain from degenerative or terminal conditions. Treatment methods include physical activity, reflexology, massage, and muscular/skeletal manipulation. Collaboration with speech therapists and other physical therapists is essential. Patient care is approximately 90% outpatient and 10% inpatient.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with patients to assess physical condition, symptoms, and review medical history/referrals
- Diagnose movement dysfunction through observation and patient interaction
- Develop individualized treatment plans
- Coach patients and teach therapeutic exercises and stretches
- Provide hands-on therapy such as massage to ease pain and promote healing
- Maintain detailed records of patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress
- Report patient progress to family members, providers, and care committees
- Perform other assigned duties
Professional Communication
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff, and work environment
- Interact sensitively with patients/families from diverse developmental and sociocultural backgrounds
- Provide information to reduce patient/family anxiety and convey caring and acceptance
- Maintain professional relationships and communicate relevant information to healthcare team members and referral agencies
- Initiate communication about clinical priorities and security concerns as needed
- Use appropriate communication methods (phone, pager, etc.)
Teamwork
- Accept assignments based on priority, competencies, and unit needs
- Collaborate closely with other care providers and offer clinical assistance
- Report patient conditions to physicians, nurses, and other staff
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to maintain effective work relationships
- Report to work on time and as scheduled
Professional Development
- Attend in-services, continuing education, and departmental meetings
- Participate in peer performance reviews as requested
- Respond proactively to improve patient care and customer service
