Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 20
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing:

  • Tech support available on day and night shifts
  • Unit secretary available 7 AM - 7 PM
• Equipment Used:

  • IV Pumps
  • Telemetry
  • Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
  • Continuous Pulse Oximetry Machines
  • Feeding Pumps
  • Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA)
  • EKG machines
  • Bladder scanner
  • iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling:

  • 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
  • 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first, rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• Patient Experience:

  • Attentive and compassionate care expected
  • Bedside shift report required
  • Ability to make personal connections with patients and include family in care plans

Hospital Certifications

• Comprehensive Stroke Center
• ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center
• Certified Chest Pain Center

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Med/Surg nursing
• Skills required:

  • Ability to prioritize care and multitask
  • IV starts
  • Basic wound care
  • Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Note: No advanced skills or additional certifications required beyond BLS.
