Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
  • IV start skills required
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • May be required to float to other units
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for L&D, Post-Partum, and OB units
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS for ER)

Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)

Licensure & Background Requirements

  • Valid nursing license (compact license accepted with additional documentation if not Ohio)
  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire in lieu)
  • Adult Tdap vaccine (not TD or DTaP)
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) with mask requirement if declined
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but strongly recommended

Facility-Specific Policies & Training

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required annually
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates may be required to provide proof of fingerprinting completion (in-state or out-of-state)
  • Fingerprinting results must be current within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
  • Background check and fingerprinting results with any hits require additional documentation and adjudication
  • Candidates can renew certain certifications onsite if needed

This position is ideal for experienced L&D RNs with strong EPIC skills who are comfortable working night shifts and meeting comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
