Travel RN - Home Hospice Nurse

Location: Asheville, North Carolina (Buncombe County)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Role Overview

  • This is a home hospice nursing position.
  • Nurse will travel by personal vehicle between patient appointments; mileage reimbursed at the federal rate.
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:15.
  • Work involves providing hospice care in patients' homes.

Unit Information

  • Home care hospice setting
  • Day shift team includes: 1 team manager, 1 CNC, 3 RN case managers, 2-3 PCTs
  • Night shift staffing not specified
  • Electronic Medical Record system used: Home Care Home Base

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hospice experience is mandatory
  • Familiarity with EMR documentation, specifically for hospice certifications
  • Active driver's license required
  • Understanding of documentation needed for hospice certifications

Preferred Skills

  • Additional home health experience is a plus
  • Experience as a hospice case manager and ability to work independently

Typical Responsibilities

  • Patient assessment and pain management
  • Educating patients and families about hospice care
  • Managing documentation and certification requirements

Certifications Required

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • CPR/BLS certification

Additional Information

  • Dress code: Scrubs
  • Potential for backup/on-call duties, but not very likely

This position is ideal for an RN with hospice experience who is comfortable working independently in a home care setting and traveling between patient homes.
