Radiology / Cardiology X-Ray Tech - Charleston, South Carolina (Travel/Contract)
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (X-Ray Tech)
- Location: Charleston, SC
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7:30 AM), Friday through Sunday, including holidays as needed
- Orientation: First week may include day shifts for orientation before regular schedule begins
- On-Call: Required, approximately 3-4 days per month
- Floating: May float within the same campus buildings; no floating to sister facilities
- Daily Caseload: Varies
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year required; first-time travelers accepted but travel experience preferred
- Required Experience: O/C-Arm experience
- Certifications/Licenses:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC accepted)
- ARRT (R) and SCRQSA (R) certifications accepted
- Radiation badge must be supplied by the agency (facility does not provide)

- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Teal top / Black bottoms
- Parking: $20 one-time fee for nights and weekends only
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Work Eligibility: I-9 attestation and completed I-9 form required
- Identification: Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence/employment
- Includes SSN trace, statewide and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Licensure:
- South Carolina state license verification required (primary source)
- Walk-through (temporary) license option available for SC RN license with faster processing
- All licensure hits must be approved by facility
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment History: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if verification exhausted
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by agency; process may take 5-7 days before start
- Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually; specific mask models required
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, no instant tests accepted
- Vaccinations & Health:
- COVID-19 vaccinations highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years required or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters may be needed for low titers
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Physical exam: Initial and annual updates required, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Orientation & Training:
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, business casual attire)
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and OR competency if assigned to OR
- Additional Certifications:
- ACLS required for certain units (not required for this position unless specified)
- PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM certifications as applicable by unit
- IV Therapy certification for select LPNs if applicable
Work Conditions & Policies
- Radius rule: 60 miles; local hires accepted at a reduced rate
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application and approved based on facility needs
