Acute Care RN Opportunity

Location: Tonasket, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Department: Acute Care CNA/NAC
• Facility Size: 16 beds
• Typical Staffing: 5 RNs total (3 Acute Care, 2 ER)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-6 depending on acuity
• Patient Types: Lower acuity patients; higher acuity or complex cases are transferred out
• Common Diagnoses: Atrial fibrillation, cellulitis, severe wounds, falls, wound care, rehab, long-term antibiotics
• No specialists available onsite

Requirements & Skills

• Minimum 2 years RN experience required
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Must be able to titrate drips (Heparin, Insulin)
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently (no monitor techs)
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• No Rapid Response Team, Code Team, or IV Team available onsite

Staffing & Support

• 1 Shift Supervisor oversees both Acute Care and ER; may take patient assignment if needed
• Nurse Aides (NACs/HUSs) shared between ER and Acute Care: 4 on days, 2-3 on nights
• Respiratory Therapist available Monday-Friday 7 AM - 3:30 PM with on-call coverage; RNs perform EKGs, breathing treatments, and Bipap

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Scheduling managed by leadership; predictable schedules with some block scheduling for night shifts
• Travelers expected to be flexible and help fill staffing gaps
• Weekend shifts: Typically 4 per 4-week period
• Holiday rotation participation may be required
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating: May be asked to float to ER
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs allowed
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts with preceptor

• Located in a rural area with minimal resources
• Travelers should be independent and flexible
• Housing is limited; a few AirBnBs available but usually not pet-friendly
• Travelers should be willing and able to float between Acute Care and ER

This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs comfortable working in a rural setting with lower acuity patients and limited onsite resources.
