Registered Nurse - Neuro Critical Care (Travel/Contract)
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Neuro Critical Care (will float to Medical Critical Care as needed)
- Start Date: ASAP after selection and credentialing
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 and 3:1
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period (night shifts include Friday/Saturday)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Position is unit-based but may float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Scheduling: Accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Within 25-mile radius
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holiday blocks (Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Required Experience & Certifications
- Must have Cerner experience - no exceptions
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Stroke certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
- Background Check: 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years required
- Education Verification: Highest degree earned
- Skills Checklist and Competency Exams as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
- Photo for badge (recent, plain background, shoulders up, no filters)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam (within last 12 months)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
- TB Questionnaire (annual)
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series or positive titer required; declinations accepted only under specific circumstances
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
- Drug Testing: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Hepatitis A: Required for select departments (ED, NICU, Endoscopy, Pediatric, Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required October 1 - March 31; exemptions require approved documentation and masking if approved
- COVID-19 Vaccine: No longer required
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Must work 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holiday blocks
- Floating within scope may be required
- Block scheduling available
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
