Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Amarillo, Texas

Job Details

Unit Information

  • 35 beds on unit
  • Patient Population: Medical Surgical and Orthopedic
  • Telemetry monitored in a centralized unit
  • Free floating charge nurse
  • Support staff available: Patient Care Technicians, Patient Transporters, House discharge nurse floats across departments
  • Documentation System: EPIC (experience required within last 6 months)
  • Scrub Color: Any, no logos
  • Local Traveler Rule: Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify

Certification Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, MAB - required as applicable
  • State License Verification and NURSYS verification required
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA) required

Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing score or meet Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online)
  • Competency Exams as applicable (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Core testing annually for subcontractors

Health and Background Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
  • TB Questionnaire for positive TB results, renewed annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start
  • Onsite additional drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background Checks and Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Education verification required (highest level)
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Photo for badge required
  • Driver’s License/State ID required
  • I9 and E-Verify required for direct candidates
  • Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements only (not applicable here)
