Registered Nurse (RN) - Sierra Med/Tele

Position Overview

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a 29-bed unit combining telemetry and medical patients.
• Accountable for individualized patient outcomes over an entire episode of care.
• Role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Requires intensive continuous mental effort for safe patient care and decision-making.
• May be required to float within competency levels and work major holidays.

Unit Description

• 29-bed unit staffed with RNs and CNA/CCTs.
• Staffing ratio ranges from 1:4 to 1:6.
• Ancillary support includes Rapid Response Team, phlebotomists, EKG technicians, Respiratory Therapists, Physical and Occupational Therapists.
• Patient population includes stable telemetry and medical diagnoses such as COPD, sepsis, COVID, respiratory illnesses, alcohol withdrawal, diabetes, GI bleed, etc.
• Telemetry patients are monitored remotely by a CCT.

Schedule & Requirements

• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (06:45 - 19:15)
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• No call requirements
• Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (holiday shifts count as Eve + Days = 1 holiday)
• Required to pick up one additional shift every 4-week schedule period
• Schedule may include weekends and holidays
• Employer may call off shifts with 48 hours’ notice for low census during the 13-week contract

Qualifications

• Current Nevada RN license required prior to start
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Must pass telemetry competency exam (identifying and measuring telemetry rhythm strips)
• Minimum 2+ years recent Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
