Travel RN Opportunity - NICU, Houston, Texas

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Houston, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: NICU (Level 2, 3, and 4 beds)
Number of Beds: 146 total (64 Level 3 & 4, 82 Level 2)
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 2 charge nurses, variable number of nurses based on census and acuity, clerk, nurse tech in Level 2
- Night Shift: Similar staffing as day shift
Patient Ratios: Vary by acuity (1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4)
Equipment: All NICU equipment
EMR Systems: Meditech & CPN

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years of NICU experience (higher requirement between 1 and 2 years applied)
Skills:
- Infant assessment
- IV management
- Respiratory support management
Certifications:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Licenses: Registered Nurse License

Preferred Qualifications

Level 4 NICU experience
Experience with HCA Healthcare system

Typical Procedures Performed

Lumbar puncture (LP)
Central line placement
Circumcision
Eye exams

Work Schedule & Policies

Minimum of 4 weekend shifts and 2 Monday/Friday shifts per 4-week schedule
Holidays scheduled per unit guidelines
Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Unit Policy: Bare below the elbows including “naked nails”

Additional Information

Floating Areas: All NICU areas, General Nursery, Pediatrics with infant assignment
Desired Personality Traits: Strong communication skills, team player, focus on parent satisfaction and patient safety
