Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation Therapy
Location: Stockton, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Physical Therapist implements patient rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, function, and strength in an outpatient/rehabilitation clinic setting.
Essential Functions
- Hold an active Physical Therapist license in California (or plan to obtain one soon).
- Evaluate and treat patients through physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
- Guide and monitor patient care throughout treatment and follow-up.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides in all aspects of patient care.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, co-workers, and other healthcare personnel to ensure quality care.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
- Assist patients by answering questions and ensuring their comfort.
- Collaborate with front office staff on scheduling and patient follow-up.
- Maintain computer skills necessary for job functions (typing, Word, Internet, EMR).
- Make independent decisions regarding patient care.
- Participate in business marketing and referral processes as needed.
- Follow HIPAA policies and procedures strictly to protect patient privacy.
- Be familiar with billing policies and procedures, including Medicare, workers’ compensation, private insurance, auto, liens, and cash pay.
- Proficient in diagnosis (DX) and ICD-10 coding for billing services.
- Physically able to perform duties including sitting, walking, standing for 8-10 hours, lifting up to 50 pounds, assisting patients with mobility restraints, transfers, and walking safety.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides regarding patient care.
Work Environment
- Outpatient physical therapy clinic/rehabilitation setting.
- No travel required.
Patient Privacy and Compliance
- Protect patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
- Access patient information only as necessary for job duties.
- Report any privacy concerns or violations without fear of retaliation.
- Participate in privacy training and communicate privacy policies to others.
- Comply with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving during work hours.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds and assist patients with mobility and safety.
Education and Experience
- Required: Degree in Physical Therapy.
- Preferred: Continuing education courses.
- Must hold or plan to obtain an active Physical Therapist license in California.
