Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide physical therapy services across various patient care areas including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, and oncology.
  • Primary role involves inpatient patient care.
  • Responsibilities include assessments, documentation, patient/family education, and safety & injury prevention.
  • Floating within therapy service lines as needed.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (start time flexible up to 8:00 AM).
  • Required to work one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every 4 weeks, with a compensatory day off during that week.
  • No on-call required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • Must have current state license (pending state license accepted).
  • Certifications required: BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Acute care experience, strong communication skills, and willingness to work with diverse patient populations are essential.
  • Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs.
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted.

Work Restrictions & Guarantees

  • No more than 7 days off within the 13-week contract.
  • Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week contract (cancelled shifts must be full length).

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, EFM, and others as applicable by unit
  • State License verification (primary source verification required)
  • IV Certification required for LPN/LVN if applicable (Missouri facilities)

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments
  • Education verification of highest degree related to profession
  • State-specific searches (Missouri and Illinois) as applicable

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (N95) annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations: Tdap, TB testing or questionnaire, Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with exemptions limited in certain units)
  • Drug testing within 1 year, must remain valid throughout assignment
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Facility-Specific Documents

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, must score 80% or higher)
  • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, Dress Code Policies (must review and sign prior to start)
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)

Other Requirements

  • Employment application and professional references (2 required)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start (Oncology skills checklist if applicable)
  • MO FCSR Worker Registration Form for certain clinical areas (time sensitive)

Additional Notes

  • Parking passes available for monthly purchase (various lots, prices vary).
  • Candidate must adhere to all facility policies and complete required training prior to start.
  • Floating may be required within therapy service lines but not to sister facilities.
