Position Details

Unit Information

• Unit: 611 – 4th Floor Med/Surg
• Number of Beds: 46
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing: Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurse), RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks; staffing based on patient census
• Floating Policy: May float to 3 South (post-surgical med/surg) or PCU (telemetry overflow)
• Scheduling: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts per week

• GE Apex Pro Telemetry box
• Hoyer lift, Sara Steady
• Baxter IV pumps, iMobile
• Alaris PCA IV pump
• Welch Allen Vitals machine
• Glucometer
• Documentation system: Meditech Expanse

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years med/surg experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) experience required
• General med/surg skills, EKG interpretation, CPap management, Port access
• Preferred advanced skills: chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusions

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Telemetry monitoring
• Paracentesis

Certifications

• Active nursing license in good standing (compact license accepted if applicable)
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• Current NIH certification (must be renewed annually)

Dress Code

• Navy blue or gray scrubs only
• No T-shirts, fleece jackets, or sweatshirts
• Scrub jackets and long sleeve shirts under scrub tops may be any color or pattern
• Royal blue scrubs are not permitted (reserved for OB/LD staff)
