Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Travel Position
Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Facility: Appalachian Regional Healthcare
Job Details
- Specialty: RN ICU
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Shift Schedule: 36/48 hours over two weeks (may fluctuate based on census and call-ins)
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2
- EMR System: Meditech
- License Requirement: Kentucky or compact license valid for KY
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years current ICU experience
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Residency Requirement: Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (AHA certified, front and back of card if not electronic)
- ACLS (AHA certified, required for all RNs except Psych and certain Med/Surg units)
- NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR and Psych)
- Valid Nursing License (Kentucky or compact for KY) verified within 30 days of start
Required Immunizations & Health Requirements
- MMR: Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start. If low/equivocal, proof of first dose to start and second dose within 28-30 days.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or proof of 3-dose vaccine series or declination accepted. Annual update required.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required October-March. Must be administered on or after August 1. Medical or religious exemptions require approval prior to start.
- Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start. If low/equivocal, proof of first dose to start and second dose within 28-30 days.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years from administration date. Declinations accepted.
- TB Quantiferon Test: Within one year prior to start. Annual update required.
- Positive PPD: If applicable, requires chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire.
- Annual Physical or Physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions.
Background & Professional Requirements
- Background check within 30 days prior to start including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG checks. Annual updates required.
- Two professional references required: one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor reference within the last year.
- Submission packet including required experience, facility, and unit information.
- Verification of education and employment (5 years) required.
- Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start. Annual update required.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (excluding marijuana/THC). Annual update required.
Competency & Skills Verification
- Unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start. Annual update required.
- Competency exam specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start. Annual update required.
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives. Annual update required.
- EKG and Telemetry exam within one year prior to start. Annual update required.
Additional Notes
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
- Candidates must not be submitted to more than one job at a time.
- Start date on job posting is the start date needed.
