Job Description
- Background in Critical Care / Cardiac Critical Care required
- Experience with open heart recovery and post-cardiac procedure recovery
Required Credentials & Certifications
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
Licenses
- Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
Exams & Testing
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated as of Dec 2023)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
- 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
Health & Immunizations
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test: Preferred prior to start, required annually
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, TB questionnaire annually
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Health Statement: Completed physical exam or statement of good health prior to assignment, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background (no filters or alterations)
- Driver’s License/State ID valid and matching address requirements
- Resume/Profile submission
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment
- Employment verification for the past seven years
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
- Confirmation of assignment documentation on agency letterhead
Onboarding & Compliance
- Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
- Optional: Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (uploaded by unit leader within a week)
- Post-assignment evaluation survey to be completed within 72 hours of assignment completion
This position requires a highly qualified critical care nurse with specialized cardiac experience and compliance with extensive credentialing and health requirements.
