Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Travel/Contract)
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Summary
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (1st time travelers not accepted)
- Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
- Work Setting: General Emergency Department (Non-Trauma), very large and busy with high acuity
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification, PALS
- Stroke and STEMI Certified facility
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- ER Size: 59 beds, averaging 165-175 patients per day
- Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Floating: Rare
- Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (see below)

- New Year’s Eve and Day (Dec 31 - Jan 1)
- Spring Break (April 6-12, no RTO)
- Memorial Day (May 26)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (Sept 1)
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday (Nov 27-28)
- Christmas Eve and Day (Dec 24-25)
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Clinical screening required to determine fit before manager approval
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Required Certifications & Verifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
- NIH Stroke Certification
- State License Verification – Must be licensed in Georgia
- NURSYS Verification – Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
- Background Check – Comprehensive background check required within 30 days of start
- Education Verification – Degree verification required; can be pending with proof of processing
- Drug Testing – Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
- Physical Exam – Required within 1 year of start
- TB Testing – Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B – Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Flu Vaccine or Declination – Required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Competency Exams (Aya Required)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (strict 3-attempt limit)
- General Competency Exam
Additional Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- Skills Checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending with proof)
- Two clinical references required
