Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department, Asheville, North Carolina

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Emergency Department, Asheville, NC
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Emergency Department (ER)
Number of Beds: 101
Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for behavioral holds in ED
Staffing: Techs available; support includes cardiac monitoring unit, internal processing area, triage, and unit clerks (days and nights)
Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must be flexible to float within all ED sections
Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates, and visible information boards

Required Certifications (Must have before start date)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – required within 90 days of hire

Experience & Skills

Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
At least 1 year of ER nursing experience
Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
Advanced skills related to emergency nursing procedures

Dress Code

Navy scrubs required
