Travel RN Opportunity - Med Surg Unit (Decatur, TX)

Unit: Medical/Surgical Specialty (Unit 612)
Floor: 5, Main Campus

Unit Information

Number of Beds: 28
Number of Staff: 80
Shift Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 CNC, 4-5 nurses, 2-4 PCTs, monitor tech
- Night Shift: 1 CNC, 4-5 nurses, 2-4 PCTs, monitor tech
Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5, may flex to 1:6
Equipment: Capnography, PCAs, Remote Telemetry
EMR System: Meditech
On Call Requirement: None
Floating Requirement: Mandatory float to like units

Required Skills

Telemetry experience
Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) experience

Preferred Skills

ACLS certification

Typical Procedures on Unit

Orthopedic cases: spines, total knee arthroplasties (TKAs), total hip arthroplasties (THAs), other ortho trauma repairs
Post cardiac catheterization care (non-interventional)
Blood administration
Management of heparin drips, bumex, lasix

Ideal Candidate Profile

Team player willing to assist beyond assigned duties

Unit Guidelines

Clocking in/out for lunch breaks
Completing bedside shift report
Performing hourly safety rounds
