Cardiovascular Technologist I - Oklahoma City, OK

Position Overview

This entry-level role involves working under immediate to general supervision to develop competencies in delivering specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services. The position supports medical staff in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring a range of cardiovascular conditions in adult and pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, urgent care, and outreach clinics.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with physician orders.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams to achieve clinical and operational goals.
  • Operate specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures.
  • Conduct post-procedure reviews to ensure documentation and technical quality meet department protocols and accreditation standards.
  • Transfer images and data to archival systems, enter technical findings, and prepare studies for physician reporting.
  • Perform quality control, cleaning, and high-level disinfection of equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain competencies and improve care.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology principles, medical imaging, terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and reliably report to work as scheduled.
  • Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
  • Accuracy in record-keeping and handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to multi-task, remain calm under stress, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong communication skills with staff, patients, and families, demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
  • Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Core understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology related to cardiovascular and/or radiologic specialties.
  • Ability to apply primary specialty theory and techniques to perform and document procedures with general supervision.

Education Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • One of the following:
    • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in a primary cardiovascular specialty.
    • Graduate of a JRCERT accredited radiologic technology program.
    • Completion of a Paramedic training program.

Certifications & Licensure

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must meet eligibility and standards for ARRT Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) certification within 12 months of hire,
    OR
  • Successful completion of Paramedic training program within 12 months of hire.
